I get the sense many of my readers write and read primarily fiction. Although I write fiction and read mostly fiction, I read non-fiction books occasionally too. Some of the non-fiction I read is outside the kidlit arena.
Excluding books about writing and cookbooks, here are three of my recent non-fiction reads:
DEAR BULLY: 70 AUTHORS TELL THEIR STORIES edited by Megan Kelley Hall (Young Adult- HarperTeen) Kidlit authors share their experiences with bullying growing up. 
BOSSYPANTS by Tina Fey (Adult-Little, Brown & Company) With her usual comedic flair, Tina writes about her childhood, her theater days, and her entry into the entertainment industry. 
BAD GIRLS: 26 WRITERS MISBEHAVE edited by Ellen Sussman (Adult- W. W. Norton & Company) Adult writers share the naughty deeds they've committed when they were younger. I just noticed my recent non-fiction reads all comprise of narratives from writers!

I read books on writing and I read devotional books and biographies.
That Dear Bully one sounds interesting.
I tend to browse non-fiction books rather than read through them, as some can be very large (I have a look at my parents' ones when we're there - they're constantly buying books). I do enjoy music biographies and books discussing word meanings, their origins and suchlike.
And ones on writing, of course - though not so much since I started blogging!
If I read any non-fiction, it's usually self-help books. I hear Tina Fey's book is awesome. Thx for sharing. :)
I like to read historical non-fiction. I'm a big Tina Fey fan. I bet that's an interesting read. Does she explain where she got that scar from?
I read Non-fiction, but not nearly as often as novels. I always enjoy biographies of old movie stars - Sinatra, Howard Hughes, Audrey. I have a Grace Kelly on my TBR list.

Lynda- Dear Bully was an interesting read.
Nick- I also like to find out about word meanings and origins. I suppose my learning Latin back in school helped cultivate that interest.
Mina- I'd be curious to know which self-help books you've read and liked.
Jay- Yes, she does talk briefly about that in her book.
Daisy- I love Audrey Hepburn and have always been intrigued by Grace Kelly.

I loved Bossypants! SO funny! I love reading history. Right now I'm reading The City of Fortune, How Venice Ruled the Seas.
i just finished mindy kaling's book, and bossy pants is coming next. fun reads, that you can do in two or three gulps.
i love weighty non fiction, too. textbook light stuff (pink brain, blue brain), and well written bios (mountains beyond mountains).
Those all sound so good! I'm reading a funny memoir called Back Roads, Dead Cats, and What's for Dinner, by Jodi Marie Johnson (I guess I didn't need to mention it was funny; the title gives it away). It's about the author and her six-generation family who grew up in Arizona and New Mexico. Picked it up while on vacation last month.
I haven't heard of two of these, but all three tempt me - well, I'm not sure if I could handle the bullying one. I think I would cry and rage through most of it and turn into an emotional wreck - I feel very strongly about bullying. But awareness is crucial!!!
I love historical fiction...i am reading Uncle Toms Cabin now....slowly...lots to think about!

Dawn- That is a pretty funny title for a book.
Margo- There are some tough stories in Dear Bully. But I think many of the authors shared their experiences to reach out to others who have faced or are facing similar predicaments.
